3,000 villages in Andhra Pradesh lack 4G connectivity
VISAKHAPATNAM: Even amid the rollout of 5G services by various telecom operators in cities like Vijayawada, Visakhapantam, Guntur, Tirupati, and Nellore, nearly 3,160 villages in Andhra Pradesh are still deprived of 4G services as per the Central data. There are 17,328 villages in the state.
Even worse, nearly 1,700 villages still lack mobile connectivity. Of these 1,700 villages, about 1,000 hamlets are located in Alluri Sitharama Raju district, which was carved out with tribal pockets of the erstwhile combined Visakhapatnam district. The challenges in the grassroot connectivity is clearly impacting the service delivery, e-governance initiatives, learning opportunities, dissemination of information, etc. in the areas deprived of mobile connectivity.
