2G spectrum: Citing several reasons, parties oppose early hearing of appeals challenging acquittal

New Delhi: The parties involved in the 2G spectrum allocation case, on Monday, opposed the application(s) moved by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) seeking early hearing of their appeals challenging the acquittal of former telecom minister A Raja and others.

From lack of legal assistance in wake of Covid-19; to practical difficulty in virtually perusing thousands of documents and government files to terming the agencies’ plea as “counterblast” to oppose their demand for release of properties, counsels for parties in the 2G scandal cited a host of reasons to oppose the early hearing of appeals.

Appearing on behalf of their clients, Advocates Vijay Aggarwal, Manu Sharma and Tarannum Cheema contended that the agencies have failed to cite any cogent reasons to justify early hearing of appeals.
