25 yrs on, Microsoft IDC bullish on Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Tech giant Microsoft’s India Development Centre (IDC), which has completed 25 years in India after the first centre came up in Hyderabad in 1998, has grown to over 10,000 engineers and is set to add more with the fourth building coming up on its 54-acre Hyderabad campus.

The new building, which will have a built-up area of around 1.1 million sq ft, is set to become operational in June-July of 2024, a top Microsoft official said on Tuesday. The IDC, which started out with Hyderabad and has since spread to Bengaluru, Noida and now Pune with the Nuance acquisition last year, now accounts for about half of the Redmond-headquartered giant’s 20,000-odd India headcount.
