$242 million a year: Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s salary package
Google CEO Sundar Pichai, who was recently appointed CEO of Alphabet (Google’s parent company), has reportedly received a pay hike. According to a report by CNBC, Pichai will take home $2 million dollars in salary. That’s not all as the report, which cites Alphabet’s filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, reveals that Pichai will also get $120 million in time-based stock options.
The report also suggests that as Google CEO Pichai’s annual take-home salary was $6,50,000, which has now increased significantly. The report also details how the $120 million stock units will mature. One-twelfth of the stock units will vest on March 25, 2020, whereas each quarter after another twelfth of the stock units will vest. That is until he is employed by Alphabet.
In addition to this, there’s also a performance-based stock unit that is divided into two parts and is worth $45 million each. This performance-based stock is dependent on the shareholder returns of Alphabet in the next two years.
