TRAI appeal on 15% bouquet discount cap dismissed as withdrawn in SC

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s appeal on 15% bouquet discount cap has been dismissed as withdrawn in the Supreme Court.

TRAI had filed an appeal before the apex court for upholding the clause that caps discounts that can be offered by broadcasters on bouquets to 15%.

The Supreme Court noted that the regulator has delayed in seeking a clarification on the said clause.

The Madras High Court had passed an order setting aside the 15% discount cap on channel bouquets of broadcasters. TRAI has appealed before the SC to reverse the HC order.

The matter was listed before the apex court today.
