Telecom sector needs to become global supply chain contributor but not in isolation: Prasad
Telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the Indian telecom sector needs to become a robust contributor in the global supply chain but not in isolation. The minister added that the telecom sector will play a key role in India becoming a $5trillion economy.
“Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a clarion call for ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat’ – a self-reliant India. But this does not mean India in isolation, but India as a robust contributor in the global supply chains,” said Prasad in a video message at an industry event marking 25 years of the sector.
Prasad’s comments come on the back of an across sector push to have more home grown products and reduce dependency on exports.
