Tech needs ‘responsible regulation’: Google CEO

New Delhi: Since technology touches the lives of so many people, it needs “responsible regulation,” said Alphabet Inc and Google chief executive officer Sundar Pichai.

“I think it’s important for countries to think about how best to safeguard its citizens, the privacy, the security. India has a leadership role to play here. It is important to make sure you are in safeguards for people and creating an innovative framework so that companies can innovate in on top of certainty in the legal framework,” Pichai said, adding that he hoped the country would be a voice for open and connected internet.
