Share market update: Telecom shares mixed; Tejas Networks surges 10%

NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading on a mixed note in Thursday’s afternoon session.

Shares of Tejas Networks (up 9.99 per cent) , GTL (up 5.51 per cent) , Aksh Optifibre (up 4.99 per cent) and Reliance Communications (up 3.80 per cent) were the top performers in the index.

Vindhya Telelinks (down 2.85 per cent) , Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (down 1.31 per cent) , Bharti Infratel (down 1.18 per cent) and Bharti Airtel (down 0.86 per cent) were trading lower.

The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.68 per cent down at 930.15 around 11:45 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 1.35 points at 11,034.35 while the BSE Sensex was up 19.17 points at 37,289.99.
