Is Satcom the new battlefield for Jio & Airtel?

New Delhi: At a time when experts are touting satellite communications as the next big revolution in connectivity, top telecom player Reliance Jio said India should continue to ensure that the country’s space interests and security are never compromised.

Reliance Jio’s President Mathew Oommen while addressing the ETTelecom’s India Mobile Conclave said “No compromise can be made when building the connected digital fabric of India. Whether the threat is terrestrial, or the threat is from the sky.”

Jio’s competitor Bharti Airtel has partnered with the UK-based OneWeb to launch satellite broadband services in India.
