Google Messages may soon get company’s ChatGPT rival Bard for replies

Google’s Messaging app, Google Messages, has some pretty nifty features, including Smart Reply. This feature lets users send short replies or a reaction to text messages. But, the suggestions are limited to ‘Sounds great?’ ‘Thanks’ and short phrases like this. But what if someone wants to say more than that? Well, Google is reportedly working on bringing AI to Messages, which should give more thorough replies.

According to a recent report by 9to5Google, an APK teardown of the beta version of Google Messages has uncovered a new feature that appears to be in development. Within the composition box of the messaging app, there is a button that bears a sparkle icon resembling the one used by Bard, Google’s ChatGPT competitor.
