From the ‘Pug’ to ‘Asha-Bala’; how Vodafone has created iconic characters

Remember the famous pug or the ‘Zoozoos’? Telecom service provider Vodafone Idea (earlier known as Vodafone India) has always created characters that has left an imprint in the minds of consumers. Today its Asha and Bala, an old couple who were introduced back in April 2017, during the Indian Premier League(IPL). At the time the couple was introduced to promote the company’s network which allows video calling, photo sharing, maps, video streaming and Facebook Live. In three years, the couple has become a permanent face of the brand and the latest campaign is an example of that.

“The idea has always been to tell a story which promotes the strength of the network. The work on any new campaign starts with an aim of communicating all offerings and services in the best possible manner to consumers,” Kavita Nair, chief digital transformation and brand officer, Vodafone Idea, said.
