FIR against Alt News co-founder for ‘threatening, torturing’ girl on Twitter

The Delhi Police has registered an First Information Report (FIR) against Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair for allegedly threatening and torturing a girl child through Twitter.

The FIR was registered against Zubair on a complaint received from the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) under provisions of the Information Technology Act and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) at Cyber Cell.

Zubair, however, refuted the allegations and said that this is an absolutely frivolous complaint. “I will be responding to it legally,” he said.

The NCPCR, in the complaint, said the commission took cognizance of complaint received under section 13 (1) and (k) of CPCR Act, 2005,
