Facebook will allow others to use its tech to fight one of the internet’s biggest problems
Social media giant Facebook has announced that it will allow other online platforms to use it technologies to fight one of the internet’s biggest problems– harmful content. Facebook has open-sourced its two technologies– PDQ and TMK+PDQF that helps the company to detect harmful content.
“Our industry partners, smaller developers and non-profits can use them to more easily identify abusive content and share hashes — or digital fingerprints — of different types of harmful content,” said Facebook in an official post.
Apart from these tools, there are algorithms and tools like pHash, Microsoft’s PhotoDNA, aHash, and dHash to detect harmful content like child exploitation, terrorist propaganda and graphic violence.
