Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei, ZTE running against time to get DoT nod for 5G demos at COAI’s IMC

NEW DELHI: Telecom gear vendors Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei, and ZTE are still awaiting approvals for radiating trial spectrum for demonstrations at the upcoming India Mobile Congress having submitted their respective applications weeks back and fear that any delay would impact their plans for the event.

Sources familiar with the matter said that all four vendors have been seeking approval from the WPC (wireless planning and coordination) wing of the telecom department. (DoT) for radiating trial spectrum.

The event is being positioned as South Asia’s largest digital technology forum. It is being organized by the DoT and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), which represents telcos like Airtel, Vodafone Idea and Reliance and European, Chinese and US-based gear and chip makers.
