NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel said the first wave of fifth-generation (5G) smartphones in India must not be priced above $300 for driving mass consumption of the ultra-fast wireless broadband service in the country once the technology arrives.
Airtel’s chief technology officer Randeep Sekhon said that smartphones are currently priced around $1,000 globally, which need to be lowered to a max $300 for unlocking the next wave of mass data consumption in India.
