Google is in talks to licence artists’ voices and melodies
Google is negotiating a deal with Universal Music to licence artists’ vocals and melodies as it plans an AI tool for people to create legitimate deepfake tracks.
The discussions underway are to form a partnership to safeguard artists’ and labels from implications of AI, reports the Financial Times citing four people familiar with the matter.
According to sources close to the situation, Google and Universal Music are in the early stages of discussions to create a tool that would allow fans to create tracks legitimately and compensate the copyrights owners. It is not yet clear when a product launch will happen.
