Gujrati play ‘Rawat Rann Singh’ to be screened on MPSTM’s YouTube channel

A Gujarati folk play Rawat Rann Singh will be featured at Madhya Pradesh State Tribal Museum Youtube Channel. The play will be featured on Friday under Abhinayan series.

The play will be performed under the direction of Prakash Harilal Jain. The play is all about the story of King Rawat Rann Singh of Gujarat. It tells about his love for an untouchable girl. The play is orepared in Bhavai folk theatre style.

It is to be noted that Bhavai is a popular folk theatre form in Gujarat with a 700-year old history. Bhavai is believed to have originated in the 14th century. Asaita Thakar is traditionally credited for its origin.

Interestingly, plays of this theatrr style were performed at Bharat Bhavan a lot of times.
