‘With no 4G, BSNL losing business to private players’

Functioning of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s offices in the district was paralysed as the officials andemployees began a three-day strike on Monday.

The BSNL employees’ grouse is that while private telecom operators were attracting subscribers with 4G services, the public telecom major is yet to get permission for offering the service. Consequently, the BSNL was losing its subscriber base to private players.

Moreover, the union government had taken steps to separate transmission tower business from the BSNL to make it a separate entity so as to sell it private players.
