E & V Bands

In a departure from the current sentiments of allocating spectrum or any natural resources through auction, a DoT committee has agreed with Trai’s recommendations to allocate spectrum in the E & V bands to telecom service providers without any charge. To counter the observation recorded by the Supreme Court in the 2G scam case, the DoT has obtained a favorable legal opinion from the Solicitor General of India (see box for details).
