Govt to provide 2G only

For Meghalaya and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has changed its mind. Instead of 2G, it has now approved 2G+4G technology for providing coverage in uncovered villages and black-spots on national highways, but for Arunachal Pradesh and Assam’s two districts, the DoT has turned a deaf-ear. Despite repeated requests from these north-eastern states, it is sticking to its decision to go for 2G+Edge technology, which is outdated. These procurements, which are yet to be done, will be done through BSNL for which it has already selected two companies – HFCL and Vihaan Networks
