MTC Regime – Anti Growth & Anti Consumer

Can you make a four-minute voice call for just 1 paisa, yet it would yeild profit to the operator for providing this service? Yes, it is possible. Let us do some calculations.

Voice packets over LTE technology needs to travel at a speed of 32 kilo bits per second (kbps). For a 60 second call, it means a speed of 1,920 kbps (32×60 kbps) is required. Because, communications is a two way path, it means double of that speed ie 3,840 kbps (1,920 x 2 kbps). To convert this speed into size of data (ie bytes), you need to divide it by 8 (8 bits = 1 byte), which gives 480 Kilo Bytes (3,840/8). And 480 KB is equivalent to 0.5 Mega Bytes or half MB). Thus, for half MB data package, you can talk for one minute; and for one MB, you can talk for two minutes;
