Slew of measures initiated by the government in its efforts to shift production bases to India is showing results. As per the statements made by the telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in the Lok sabha on 24.02.2016, the local production of mobile handsets in value term has doubled and set-top-box (STB) is likely to see local manufacturing growth of 61 per cent, in the current financial year compared with the previous fiscal 2014-15.
