Interview with Nokia/MeitY

The ministry of electronics & information technology (MeitY) has introduced a phased manufacturing program (PMP) aiming to promote the domestic manufacturing of mobile phones by providing tax relief and other incentives on components and accessories used for the devices. Though the incentives were announced way back in FY16, but PMP is the new announcement. The ministry claims that the PMP program has been designed by keeping in view the state of play of the design / manufacturing ecosystem in the country, according to the notification issued by the ministry.
