Huawei Mate X foldable 5G Android phone to launch in India later this year

Huawei has confirmed that its first foldable smartphone– Mate X– would be launched in India in the second half of 2019. Claimed as the world’s first foldable 5G smartphone, the Huawei Mate X unfolds outwards into an 8-inch tablet from a regular 6.6-inch full screen smartphone. The company has remained tight-lipped about the price of the Mate X in India. Having said that the Huawei Mate X was introduced at a price of 2,299 Euros (or roughly Rs 1.80 lakh) at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 in February.

5G capabilities of the Huawei Mate X
The Huawei Mate X is powered by a Balong 5000 modem, claimed to be the world’s first multi-mode 5G SoC with 7nm process. The modem supports 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G connectivity. “Balong 5000 is the first to achieve the industry’s benchmark in 5G peak download rate, offering 4.6Gbps in Sub-6GHz (low frequency band, 5G main frequency band),” claims the company.
