How ITI CMDs plotted Co.’s Land Grab

This is now the end of the Dhingra-era at ITI. The CMD of ITI Ltd since April 7, 2010, KL Dhingra has been sacked by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His five year appointment had expired on April 7, 2015, but the Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) approved extension till his superannuation on October 31, 2015, which also had telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad’s blessings. The telecom ministry had then sent the case to the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).

Till that happened, Mr Prasad using his administrative powers, had been giving extensions to Mr Dhingra for one month each. Seven days prior to the expiry of the second extension, the Prime Minister rejected the telecom ministry’s proposal. During his tenure at ITI, Mr Dhingra was found to be involved in a number of corruption cases. Mr Dhingra’s ouster brings some hope for ITI revival.
