Healthcare IT spend in India to rise 3.4 per cent: Gartner

Health care IT spend in India is expected to rise 3.4 percent to $1.2 billion in 2016, according to research firm Gartner.

The forecast includes spending by hospitals, hospital systems, nursing and residential care, and university hospitals on internal services, software, IT services, data center systems, devices and telecom services, the research firm said.

“IT services, which includes consulting, software support, implementation, hardware, IT outsourcing and business process outsourcing, will continue to be the largest overall spending category within the health care providers sector,” Moutusi Sau principal research analyst at Gartner, said in a statement.

Sau said the BPO sub-segment will post the fastest growth rate of 15.4 percent over 2015. IT outsourcing will be the largest sub-segment in IT services and is expected to grow 7.5 percent to $107 million in 2016.

The healthcare software market will grow 6 per cent to $106 million in 2016, Gartner said. Infrastructure spending is expected to grow 4.5 per cent to $43 million.
