Discovery India publishes MRP, bouquet rates of channels

With very days left for the new tariff regime to kick-in, Discovery Communications India has published the maximum retail price (MRP) and the bouquet rates of its channels.

Discovery, which owns and operates 13 standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) channels, has priced its SD channels between Rs 1 to 4. The HD channels have been priced between Rs 4 to 6.

Discovery Channel, Discovery Channel Tamil, and DSport have been priced at Rs 4 while Discovery Kids has an MRP of Rs 3. Animal Planet and TLC have been priced at Rs 2 each while Discovery Jeet, Discovery Science, and Discovery Turbo have an MRP of Rs 1 each.

In terms of HD channels, Discovery HD World has an MRP of Rs 6 followed by Animal Planet HD World (Rs 3), TLC HD World (Rs 3), and Discovery Jeet HD (Rs 2).

The broadcaster stated that it reserves its rights, subject to applicable regulations, to revise the maximum retail price of the channels payable per subscriber per month mentioned

It further stated that the MRP of the channels offered on an a-la-carte basis is excluding taxes and levies imposed by local and /or the Central Government including but not limited to GST.

The broadcaster has created six SD and four HD bouquets.

The first SD bouquet called ‘Family Pack’ is priced at Rs 8 and has all the eight SD channels. The second SD bouquet ‘Sports Pack’ is priced at Rs 7 and has five channels. The SD bouquet 3 ‘Base Pack’ has four channels and is priced at Rs 6.

The Tamil family bouquet has nine channels including Discovery Channel Tamil and is priced at Rs 8. The Tamil sports has six channels with a bouquet price of Rs 7. The last SD bouquet ‘Tamil Base Pack’ has five channels and is priced at Rs 6.

The three HD bouquets are Family HD Pack, Sports HD Pack, and HD Base Pack priced Rs 9, Rs 8.5, and Rs 7.5. The first HD bouquet has eight channels while the other two have five and three channels respectively.
