BharatNet

In Oct 2018, the USO Fund moved a proposal to allow higher cost for implementing phase-2 of the BharatNet project under which 1.50 lakh Gram Panchayats (GPs) are to be connected with optical fiber cable (OFC). The phase-2 involves laying of 6 lakh km of OFC compared to 3 lakh km laid under phase-1 in more than four years for connecting 1 lakh GPs.
