BARC India initiates penal action against 12 channels

MUMBAI: Since its inception in March 2017, television rating agency Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India’s Disciplinary Committee has taken penal action against 12 channels in the country.

The FIRs were filed in Telangana and arrests have been made in Karnataka and Gwalior, it said in a statement on Wednesday, without naming the channels.

BARC India said it has upped its vigilance drive with stronger counter-measures to check the manipulation of television viewership from panel tampering and other unfair practices.
