A New York teen has sued Apple for $1 billion

NEW DELHI: An 18-year-old teen Ousmane Bah has filed a $1 billion lawsuit against Apple for false arrest. As reported by Bloomberg, Bah said that company’s facial recognition software falsely linked him to the various thefts at Apple stores which led to his arrest in November last year.
Bah has filed a complaint at the Manhattan federal court. In the complaint he mentioned that Apple wrongly attached his identity to the thief’s face. He further mentions that he lost a learner’s permit which consisted of his name but no picture that the thief must have used to identify himself.
In the lawsuit filed, Bah added that the arrest warrant consisted of a photo that did not resemble him. Also during one of the thefts in Boston to which he was charged, he was attending prom in Manhattan.
